Officer injured by alleged intoxicated driver

Amarillo, TX - A police officer was injured last night by an alleged drunk driver. Officer Logan Landrum was directing traffic near I-40 and Washington.

He was set up to alert eastbound traffic and move them over to the center and inside lanes because the outside lane was occupied by officers and emergency personnel. Landrum was in his patrol car with his lights on when a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Kent Cogdill collided with the rear of his patrol car.

Police say Cogdill was intoxicated during the crash. Landrum was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Cogdill was booked into Potter County Sheriff's Office Jail for intoxicated assault. The Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
