Snack Shack is a student-led and student-run program that provides take home bags of food for middle school and high school kids. The program began three years ago at Tascosa after Snack Pak 4 Kids surveyed middle school and high school students. They found that kids needed help with food beyond elementary school.
"These students want to help themselves. So, if you have students that need this program, through the anonymous way in which they access the program, they can help themselves and be anonymous at the same time," said Dyron Howell, Founder of the program. "Our generation of students is going to be the one that runs this program and so the sooner we engage them in this process, the better we'll be."
