Oklahoma man arrested for drug possession

AMARILLO, TX - A traffic violation leads to an arrest of an Oklahoma man for marijuana possession.

An Amarillo Police Motor officer stopped the driver of a white Chevrolet Tahoe near 58th and S. Western on Monday around noon. During the stop, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the Tahoe, allowing him to search the vehicle based on his observation.

The police officer found marijuana residue on the interior of the car as well as a small baggie with the drug in it in the console. Further searching led the officer to locate a plastic trash bag that contained eight smaller bags of marijuana with a total weight of about eight pounds in the back seat.

The driver, Andres Paul Rocha, of Guymon, also did not have identification or vehicle insurance during the traffic stop.

He was booked into the Randall County Jail for possession of marijuana over 5 pounds but less than 50 pounds in addition to traffic charges.
