Man robbed at gun point attempting to buy phone through facebook

AMARILLO, TX - An Amarillo man was robbed at gun point Monday trying to buy a phone through a popular facebook group.

Police were sent to an Amarillo residence on a reported robbery yesterday around 4:30 afternoon. The victim told police he made arrangements on a popular buy, sell and trade facebook page to purchase a phone. The victim agreed to meet the seller at a local motel parking lot, and when he got there a white vehicle pulled in behind his car.

A black male then got out of his vehicle and entered the passenger side of the victim's vehicle. The suspect showed the phone but it was not the one agreed upon in the sale. When the victim said he didn't want the phone anymore, the suspect demanded the victim to hand over his phone and money. The black male then pulled out a handgun, pressed it into the victim's side and started counting.

The robber took the victim's belongings before fleeing the scene in a white 4-door vehicle.

The victim was not injured and no arrests have been made.

If you have any information about the robbery please call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400 or submit an online tip at amapolice.org.
