UPDATE: Amarillo, TX - The suspect shot by a Randall County Deputy Friday night has died.
The Randall County Sheriff's Office has identified the man as 29-year-old, Matthew Dobbins.
Deputies were called to Mescalero Trail south of Amarillo near McCormick road Friday evening on a home burglary.
Dobbins was reportedly inside the residence, and officials were told he was armed, so they set up a perimeter around the home and a shooting situation took place.
Deputies said Dobbins then came out of the residence and confronted police.
At some point during the shooting incident, Dobbins was struck with a bullet and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
No officers were injured in the incident and it remains under investigation.
Randall County, TX - A suspect is in the hospital Friday night after being shot by a Randall County deputy.
Deputies were called to Mescalero Trail south of Amarillo near McCormick Road just before 5 p.m. for a home burglary.
The homeowners told deputies there were weapons inside, so they set up a perimeter.
About 40 minutes later, deputies entered the residence. Shots were fired and the suspect was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital.
At this time, the Randall County Sheriff's Office is not releasing the name of the person shot nor the extent of their injuries.
