Police: Two arrested, charged with murder in officer death
Abilene Police Officer Don Allen was found dead in his home Monday night. Abilene police have arrested two suspects believed to be behind his murder.
ABILENE - Two suspects are under arrest Thursday evening for their possible role in the death of an Abilene police officer, according to the city's police department.
Officials say Violetta Walter and Phillip Walter were both arrested and charged with First Degree Felony Murder. Their bonds are set at $500,000 each.
Abilene police officer Don Allen was found dead in his home Monday night. He was not on duty at the time.
The funeral for the 27-year-old police officer will be held Friday in Abilene.
Both Walters were taken into custody at an apartment complex in Abilene, police chief Stan Standridge said at a press conference Thursday. Standridge says evidence in this case is still being processed, but it was the evidence recovered in the home that led police to the two Walters. Abilene police served an arrest warrant issued by Texas Rangers for the two.
The investigation into Allen's death will continue, according to Abilene police.
