UPDATE: Chase suspect is now in custody

The Latest: At about 2:00 a DPS trooper attempted a routine traffic stop of a 2015 Lincoln MKZ on I-40 near Bushland.

The driver refused to stop on I-40 through Amarillo and continued east. Near Conway, the driver left I-40 on a dirt road and through fields.

After leading them on a chase for 1 hour and 18 min, the driver was taken into custody on county road.

The driver was identified as Clifford Victor Stanley of Beaverton Oregon. He was charged with evading arrest and booked into the Carson County jail.

HIGH-SPEED CHASE UPDATE: State troopers near Conway say they are searching for the suspect in a field between I-40 and Highway 60.

It is unknown at this time whether the suspect is still in his vehicle.

Our crews remain on the scene with law enforcement awaiting more updates.

State troopers are posted 5 miles east of Conway actively searching for the driver. Officials are unsure if the suspect is still in his car or is now on foot.

We have multiple crews following a high-speed chase that began earlier this hour, west of Amarillo near Bushland.

The suspect led Texas State troopers and Potter County deputies through Amarillo, and the chase now continues east of Amarillo, possibly into Carson County.

Drivers in the area are urged to use caution.
