DPS trooper seizes over $320,000 worth of meth

AMARILLO, TX - A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) traffic stop leads to the discovery of over three pounds of methamphetamine.

Around 6:45am Thursday morning, a DPS trooper pulled over a 2001 Ford Mustang for a traffic violation on Interstate 40 near Conway in Carson County. During the stop, the trooper discovered over $320,000 of illegal drugs concealed inside the dash and the passenger door of the car.

The occupants of the Mustang, identified as Michael Paul Taylor, 35, of Goodyear, Arizona, and Joel Oscar Gelabet-Hernandez, 33, of Prescott, Arizona were placed under arrest and booked into the Carson County Jail. Both men face charges for possession of a controlled substance over 400 grams, a first-degree felony.

The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Tampa, Florida.
