Clovis, NM: Attempted robbery suspect arrested

Clovis, NM - Two men are in jail after police linked them to a stolen vehicle involved in an attempted robbery at Walmart.

Officers said Lloyd Bagwell and James Call face multiple charges.

The first incident stemming to this arrest happened Aug. 21. Officers were sent to the Walmart in Clovis in reference to a subject with a weapon.

A 46-year-old victim told police after parking her car, a grey vehicle parked just north of her. Reports show a suspect wearing a blue bandanna across his face and clothe in a checkered up button shirt, pointed a gun at the 46-year-old.

The victim told police the suspect demanded money. The victim told the suspect she had nothing and didn't speak English. Police said it is then the male suspect took off and got into the gray vehicle's passenger seat and sped away.

Today, around 12:30 this afternoon, officers were sent to a motel in the 1500 block of Mabry Drive in Clovis, in reference to a stolen vehicle.

Officer responded and made contact with with Bagwell and female who were in a motel. Both suspects were taken in for questioning.

Following these interviews, a second suspect, Call, was identified.

Search warrants were immediately executed on a room at the motel and a residence at the 900 block of Hinkle St.

Handguns were seized from both locations.

Call was arrested for Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Assault with Intent to Commit a Violent Felony, and Possession of Firearm or Destructive Device by a felon for the incident at Walmart. Call is being held on a $25,000 cash only bond at the Curry County Adult Detention Center.

Bagwell was arrested for Armed Robbery for the theft of the vehicle on Aug. 18 and an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear. He is being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center on a $30,000 cash only bond.
