SYLACAUGA, Alabama - Blue Bell has started churning out ice cream again at its Alabama plant, the company tweeted today.
In April, Blue Bell closed all of its plants and recalled its ice cream after the deadly listeria bacteria was found in some of its products.
Blue Bell says it has been testing ice cream at the Alabama plant for nearly a month. Alabama state health officials confirmed Wednesday they have found no signs of listeria.
The company says it is still unsure of when its ice cream will be back in the freezer aisle of grocery stores, however. The remaining production facilities in Texas and Oklahoma remain closed for testing.
The 108-year-old company recently got a boost from Texas billionaire Sid Bass, who took a $125 million stake in the company to help it restart.
