Man faces felony charges after fatal wreck

Amarillo, TX - A man from Happy faces felony charges after Texas state troopers say he may have caused a wreck that killed one person and injured another.

At around 1:37 p.m. Tuesday, troopers say 59 year-old Everett Monroe West was driving a semi-truck and hauling a dump trailer along US 385 north of Dimmitt when the truck he was driving crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a pick-up.

The other driver, 83 year-old Feliberto Sontoya Sepeda was killed in the crash.

His passenger, 78 year-old Eva Correa Sepeda was taken to an Amarillo hospital in critical condition.

West was treated for his injuries at a Dimmitt hospital, and released to law enforcement.

He faces a second-degree felony charge for intoxication manslaughter and a third-degree felony charge for intoxication assault, and was booked into the Castro County jail.
