Hereford man arrested on multiple charges

Amarillo, TX - APD officers were heading eastbound on Amarillo Blvd. near Polk St. early this morning when they noticed three individuals standing on the sidewalk.

One of the pedestrians stepped into roadway in front of the patrol car, and when approached, walked away from police.

The man began running as officers got closer, and was chased for approximately 50 yards before police eventually tased him.

Police held the man on the ground, and when he refused to be handcuffed, they tased him a second time.

After handcuffing him, police discovered a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun underneath him.

They also recovered a small, plastic bag of marijuana which he had thrown while police were chasing him.

The man was identified as 25-year-old Bladimir Arzola-Hernandez of Hereford.

Further investigation showed that Hernandez had a previous felony conviction and evading arrest conviction.

He was transported and booked into the Potter County Correction Center on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Conviction and Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.
