AMARILLO - A major incident occurred near McLean Sunday night and shut down a section of Interstate 40 into the early morning.
Multiple reports came in of a possible explosion, however NewsChannel 10 crews arrived on scene to find an overturned semi.
According to DPS Trooper Chris Ray, the semi was carrying United States postal mail and caught on fire.
Witnesses say flames and smoke on I-40 were visible East of town.
The driver attempted to put the fire out but was unable to before DPS, McLean Fire Department and Gray County officials responded.
DPS troopers working the accident re-routed traffic through McLean at Exit 41 on Eastbound I-40 toward Shamrock.
