APD investigates man shot in back of head and robbed


Amarillo, TX - Officers went to a home in the 1700 block of S. Roosevelt and recovered a handgun and the victim's wallet. Officers determined that the items were left in the home by a male known to the resident. They also went to a home in the 5400 block of Tradewind to locate the male that left the gun on Roosevelt.  A vehicle matching the description of the one that left the scene after the robbery was at the Tradewind address.

Officers found Samuel Mascorro, 28 and Amber Marie Gomez, 27 at the home. Both were transported to the APD. Investigation linked both to this case, and they were booked into the Potter County Detention Center for aggravated robbery pending filing of formal charges.

The victim remains hospitalized and detectives believe that his condition has stabilized.


Amarillo, TX - A man is sent to the hospital with life threatening injuries after he said he was robbed and shot in the back of the head last night in Amarillo.

NewsChannel 10 was on scene when the incident happened just before 1 a.m.

APD responded to the Western Horseman Club Bar where they found a 76-year-old man bleeding and asking for help.

The man said after he was shot in the head, a male subject stole is wallet and ran away.

Witnesses tell police a blue and silver Dodge pickup with a Texas license plate was parked where the shooting occurred and took off shortly after.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
