Man arrested after residential burglary in northeast Amarillo

Amarillo, TX - Wednesday morning at 2:37 a.m., APD officers were sent to the 4000 block of NE 16th on reference to a delayed burglary report.

APD spoke with the victim who stated he came home to find his porch light on and his front door unlocked.

While speaking to the victim, police noticed a man across the street between two houses who the victim said he had never seen before and noted he didn't live in the area.

Police called out to the man while walking down the street to his location. When officers identified themselves as APD, the man took off running.

After a short foot chase, officers caught up to the man and found him in possession of three watches stolen from the victim's residence.

The suspect was identified as Seth Abbit from Euless, Texas.

Abbitt was arrested, transported to the Potter County Detention Center and charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Evading Arrest/Detention.
