I-40 ramp reversal project to enter next phase

Amarillo, TX - TxDOT says that the ramp-reversal project on the I-40 frontage roads between Soncy and Coulter Road will enter its next phase.

Drivers traveling on the frontage roads and main lanes may see some delays over the next several months.

Work will begin the morning of July 14th on the westbound frontage road on the left side of the roadway, which will cause lane closures from Coulter to Cinema Drive.

The westbound, right lane of I-40 will also be closed in order for work to begin on new ramps.

Traffic will be down two westbound lanes in the area, so drivers may experience some minor delays.

The exit ramps from westbound I-40 to Coulter and Soncy will remain open.

These lane closures are expected to remain in place until mid-October, weather permitting.

The ramps on I-40 between Soncy and Coulter are being reversed to enhance safety and mobility for drivers, especially during the holiday shopping season near the mall.

The $5.4 million project is expected to be completed by November 2015, in time for the holidays.
