You may have noticed an unusual sight in downtown Amarillo early Sunday morning.
Helicopters from the company "5 State" were contracted to help replace an HVAC unit on the roof of the Chase tower. Because the building is so tall the helicopters were about the only ones who could make the improvements.
A temporary landing permit was issued by the airport after a safety plan was reviewed by Amarillo emergency responders.
At 31 stories, the Chase tower is the tallest building between Ft. Worth and Denver.
During the repairs Tyler St. and Harrison St. were blocked off by police.
