Amarillo, TX - Wednesday, June 24th marks the opening of firework stands in the city.
Stands will remain open through the 4th of July holiday.
The APD and the Amarillo Fire Marshal's office remind citizens that city ordinance prohibits the possession, manufacture, storage, sale, handling and use of fireworks within city limits.
Fines for violations are up to $2,000 for each occurrence.
The "Fireworks Amnesty Program" will be available for people who would like to safely dispose of their fireworks.
Residents may also request the disposal of small arms ammunition, primers, powder, and propellants.
