NM Police search for suspect in fatal car wreck

Amarillo, TX - New Mexico State Police continue looking for a suspect who fled the scene of a fatal wreck earlier this month in Portales.

Police said 25-year-old, Jose Calderon, was traveling south on Roosevelt road when he crossed the intersection of HWY 267 and crashed into a tree.

Officials said he fled the scene on foot after the crash, leaving one passenger with head injuries and another dead.

The New Mexico State Police said Calderon has a warrant out for his arrest and faces multiple charges, such as homicide by vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, great bodily injury by vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon, negligent use of a deadly weapon, drivers to be licensed, and evidence of financial responsibility.
