City officials look to prevent another estimated water bill disaster

Amarillo, TX - As increased water bills continue to concern Amarillo residents, the city is working to prevent another estimated water bill disaster.

In Tuesday's Amarillo city council work session, City Manager, Jarrett Atkinson says they are looking at what other cities are doing when it comes to estimating a utility bill.

They are looking into averaging a 12 month history or averaging the last three months.

The city's Utility Department says they are in the process of interviewing for more meter readers and plan to fill the last four positions some time this week.

Many city officials say having a full staff of meter readers will hopefully prevent the city from having to estimate water bills.
