Gun enthusiasts still waiting for tax free holiday on gun sales in Texas

Many Texas gun enthusiasts are still waiting to see if March 2nd, Texas' Independence Day, will be a tax free holiday for gun sales.

House Bill 206 was first read on February 10 and is still being discussed in committee.

There are many representatives in favor of any bill that would reduce a tax burden on Texans, but many are saying this bill still needs to be looked at closely to make sure its fair.

The proposed bill was written by Republican State Representative Jeff Leach of Plano.

In additions to shotguns, handguns, and rifles...item like deer stands, archery equipment, ammunition, and gun cleaning supplies would be tax-free.

Leach has been quoted saying encouraging lawful gun ownership will benefit taxpayers and boost economic growth.
