2014 United Way Kickoff Luncheon focused on transforming lives

Amarillo, TX - Over 700 people gathered Thursday for the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon Kickoff Luncheon Campaign.

The goal is to raise enough money to help over 100,000 residents in the area.

Although they haven't released a dollar amount, they know it will be in the millions.

Last year's fundraiser brought in over $5.1 million.

    The City of Amarillo is proposing new franchise fees to its solid waste program that they anticipate will improve the quality of city services that Amarillo citizens use on a daily basis.
