Teen in critical condition from lightning strike

Las Cruces, NM - Six people in Las Cruces, New Mexico were injured during a lightning strike, including one boy who was hospitalized and remains in critical condition.

Authorities say the teenage boy was struck by lightning during football practice. School officials also say four other boys and one coach were injured as well.

A witness told police that the critically injured teen was lying on the field unconscious and bleeding from his ear. Of the four boys, two were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, along with one of the coaches, who were all reported as conscious and responsive.

A boy in Georgia was also struck by lightning overnight while sitting on his couch watching TV. The Georgia boy survived, claiming his leg was in pain, but he did not suffer any burns or serious injury.
