Amarillo man arrested on drug charges, fake ID

AMARILLO - An Amarillo man is in jail after police found him in possession of narcotics and fake identification.

Around 4 a.m. on Thursday morning officers were sent to the 1500 block of SW 9th to check the welfare of a man passed out in a silver Pontiac Grand Am. Officers had to physically awake Vincent Ramos, 47, who first gave police an alias and fake identification of an Alexander Gilbert Mendoza.

Police say Ramos was deceptive in answering questions, continually changing stories about how he ended up at SW 9th.

Ramos was arrested and placed in the back of a patrol car while police continued an investigation of his car. Officers found fake checks and several other identifying pieces issued to Alexander Mendoza.

Officers also found methamphetamine, marijuana, and narcotic paraphernalia.

Ramos was booked into Potter County Correction Center and charged with Failure to Identify, Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia.
