GOP announces plans for smaller border control measures

GOP announces plans for smaller border control measures

As the immigration crisis continues across the country, House Republican leaders announced they are scaling back on their border control bill.

The new version of the border control bill includes 659 million dollars to address the youth immigration crisis with humanitarian aid and beefed-up border security.

The amount is significantly less than the one billion dollar price tag that was being considered last week. President Obama is seeking over three billion dollars to fix the problem.

Some republicans are concerned the bill opens the door for pardoning. Senate majority leader Harry Reid says the democratic-controlled senate is interested in broader immigration reform, but house speaker John Boehner says quote "such a bill like this will not make it through the GOP-dominated house."

The dead-lock may mean nothing gets done soon. Congress is taking a break at the end of this week.
