Workers attacked by swarm of bees

Wichita Falls, TX - A swarm of Africanized honey bees has sent three Wichita Falls city employees to the hospital.

The workers are still recovering and nursing hundreds of stings from the attack.

A Wichita Falls street crew was doing landscaping at a park Thursday morning when the swarm of bees attacked.

City officials say one of the men was stung at least a thousand times. Three firefighters called to the scene were also taken to the hospital to be checked out for bee stings.

A local bee keeper says the bees came from a hive the size of a basketball that can hold about 50,000 bees.

City officials report that the area of the park where the attack took place will remain closed until firefighters can confirm all the bees are gone.
