Residents hold vehicle burglary suspects at gunpoint

Amarillo, Texas - Residents held vehicle burglar suspects at gunpoint until police arrived early Wednesday morning.

Around 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of South Bonham on a vehicle burglary in progress.

The homeowner says his neighbors had caught two suspects breaking into vehicles and saw them try to run and hide at a nearby house.

The neighbors chased the suspects down and held them at gunpoint. They then notified the owner and police.

One suspect, 19-year-old Zachary Jon Gutierrez was arrested and booked into the Potter County Correction Center on a charge of burglary of vehicle and five local municipal warrants.

The other suspect, a 15-year-old girl, was released to a guardian. Officers located three different vehicles the suspects had broken into.

The stolen property was photographed and returned to the owner.

Additional charges for both suspects are pending.
