Astros escape cellar with 8-4 win, sweep at Texas
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Robbie Grossman snapped an 0-for-28 slide with a career-high four hits and the Houston Astros climbed out of last place in the AL West, completing a three-game sweep with an 8-4 victory over All-Star pitcher Yu Darvish and the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.
Grossman and rookie George Springer homered for the Astros, who moved into fourth place by a percentage point over slumping Texas.
Dallas Keuchel, one of five candidates for the final spot on the AL All-Star team, allowed four runs and eight hits over 6 2-3 innings.
The Rangers lost for the 10th time in 11 games and have dropped 18 of 21. At 38-53, their .418 winning percentage is the worst in the majors - just behind Arizona and Houston, both 39-54 for a .419 mark.

Popovich agrees to extension to stay with Spurs
(AP) - Gregg Popovich has agreed to a multi-year extension with the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs made the announcement on Tuesday. The team did not announce the terms of the deal in a two-sentence news release.
With Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw and the rest of the key elements of a team that won the franchise's fifth NBA title all set to return next season, it was no surprise that Popovich has signed on for a few more years. He is 1,116-533 in his career, including the playoffs, and won his third coach of the year trophy this season after leading the Spurs to an NBA-best 62 wins in the regular season.
He is one of three coaches to be named coach of the year three times.
4 players eligible for NFL's supplemental draft
NEW YORK (AP) - Four players will be available during the NFL's supplemental draft Thursday.
League spokesman Michael Signora said in an email that New Mexico receiver Chase Clayton, North Carolina linebacker Darius Lipford, Virginia-Lynchburg defensive tackle Lakendrick Ross and SMU running back Traylon Shead were eligible for the draft.
The supplemental draft allows qualified underclassmen who did not request early entry into the regular draft to have a chance at entering the NFL. Teams submit picks and are awarded players if their bid - for which round they would take that player - is highest. Teams then lose the corresponding pick in next year's draft.
Players that are not picked become free agents.
