The City of Hereford now has an indoor soccer facility

Amarillo, TX -- Indoor soccer is now an option for Hereford and it's surrounding cities.

Monday was the grand opening for the new indoor soccer field in Hereford called, "Caviness Sportsplex."

Kids Inc., who will help run the facility, is hoping to bring in more sports involving the youth and adults.

The indoor field has been in the works for about two years when the Hereford Economic Development Corporation and the City of Hereford donated the 75 acre tract of land for the project.

President and CEO of KidsInc says they are open to meeting any demands of the city and will work with any existing programs.

"We don't want to come in and step on anyone's toes, indoor soccer is something that no one offered and the board here has worked with the YMCA and their local folks here to make sure we are not stepping on toes, that's not our intentions and we want to offer a new programs that aren't being met and needs that aren't being met here for children and families," says Jimmy Lackey, President & CEO of Kids Inc.

The facility includes a field for indoor soccer and and flag football. And future plans include adding outdoor fields to be used for multi-sport opportunities.

The first indoor soccer game started at 7 p.m. Monday.
