Police: Man forces his way into ex-girlfriend's home

Amarillo, TX - Police came to the rescue when a man forced his way into the home of his ex-girlfriend early Monday morning.

Police arrived at the apartments at 1550 South Bell late Sunday night to investigate an emergency call. Police found a tenant's ex-boyfriend entered the home uninvited, became involved in an argument, and broke out a window as he left.

About four hours later, police were called back to the home and discovered the suspect had returned and demanded to be allowed inside the home.

Police say his ex-girlfriend and a teenage girl inside the apartment refused. The man then broke out the rest of the window and entered through it.

The pair fled to the back of the apartment to call police, but the man forcibly took the cell phone away from the teen girl. He then pushed and punched his ex-girlfriend and took her phone. He took both phones outside to hide them.

He came back inside and was trying to get into a bathroom where the woman and girl had taken refuge when officers arrived.

The police arrested 19-year-old suspect Jerrico Nathaniel Duncan for burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault, interference with an emergency phone call, and three local traffic warrants.

Officers booked him into the Potter County Detention Center.

The victims had no visible injury and declined medical attention.
