Texas lawmakers push for E-Cig ban to minors

Texas lawmakers push for E-Cig ban to minors

Posted: Updated:
Kyle, TX - Efforts to keep minors from buying electronic cigarettes are gaining more momentum here in Texas. The campaign to ban E-cigarettes to minors in Kyle, TX has now caught the attention of Texas lawmakers.

The new law only outlaws possession of E-cigs by anyone under 18 and it's something that lawmakers say could soon go statewide. Students in Kyle were actually the first to suggest this ban as they felt the same rules that ban students from smoking should apply to e-cigarettes or "vaping".

The students convinced the Kyle city council to ban possession of E-cigarettes by anyone under 18 and now their state representative plans to propose a statewide ban. But Texas is not the only state looking at regulating vaping either.

The FDA is considering requiring that all E-cigarette vapor mixes be tested, but the shops say the cost of that alone could drive them out of business.
