Cause determined on Amarillo November small plane crash

Amarillo, TX - The official cause of a small plane crash that killed three Canyon residents has been determined by the National Transportation Board.

According to the NTSB the pilot was flying at night, when he was not certified to do so, and lost control of the airplane.

Fog and the pilot's use of nerve pain medication were also cited as possible factors in the crash that killed William Capt, his wife Robin Capt and their 19-year-old son William Capt II November 13th.

William Capt did not have the additional training required by the FAA to fly in low-visibility conditions.

The NTSB had no evidence of any mechanical problems during the crash.
