House speaker plans to sue president

Washington, D.C. - House Speaker John Boehner announced Wednesday he is urging the House of Representatives to sue President Obama for "not faithfully execut[ing] the laws."

Boehner has not specified which laws the suit will accuse the president of not enforcing, but he wrote in a memo to House members that Obama has "repeatedly run an end-around on the American people and their elected legislators" on issues "ranging from health care and energy to foreign policy and education."

He warns allowing the president's actions to continue may threaten the balance of power in the government.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest says a taxpayer-funded lawsuit against Obama is a measure a majority of Americans would not support.

Boehner will bring a bill to the House floor in July authorizing the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group and the House General Counsel to sue the president.
