In celebrating National Homeownership Month, American Homeowner Preservation helps a family struggling through bankruptcy, hospitalization and job loss.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 23, 2014

American Homeowner Preservation (AHP) is celebrating National Homeownership Month by helping a family struggling through bankruptcy, job loss and hospitalization to avoid foreclosure. In 2002, President Bush officially proclaimed June to be National Homeownership Month and stated, I call upon the people of the United States to join me in recognizing the importance of providing all our citizens a chance to achieve the American Dream. AHP is helping families hang onto the American dream by using crowdfunding to purchase pools of distressed mortgages, and then providing borrowers solutions to keep their homes.

Three years ago, Maggie and her husband filed for bankruptcy and, during this period, AHP purchased their mortgage. AHP modified the mortgage so that their payments were reduced to a manageable level and this seemed to get them back on track. Then, in April 2013, things started to go wrong again when a storm ruined three rooms in their house. The couple reached a breaking point this winter when Maggies husband became unable to work after a medical procedure.

He had his knee replaced, so he was off work for three months. Maggie said. Without her husbands income, their payments became unaffordable. After already working with AHP, Maggie did not believe that they would be willing to assist her in modifying yet again. She contacted her mortgage servicer in tears because she felt she would lose her home to foreclosure. They could not help her but advised that she contact AHPs founder Jorge Newbery to explain her situation.

Thats when I reached out to Jorge, and Jorge is like, hold up, stop, calm down, Maggie said. Hes like, lets lower your payments, lets make them affordable. If youre paying something, its better than paying nothing.

AHP agreed to temporarily drop the payments for Maggie and her husband from $950 to $650 so they can get back on their feet and catch up on their normal payment plan. She said that her experience working with AHP relieved an enormous amount of stress and it will allow them to recover from the unexpected loss of income.

American Homeowner Preservation started in 2008 as a 501c3 nonprofit before transitioning to for-profit and evolving into a socially responsible hedge fund. AHP recently added crowdfunding, offering 9 12% annual returns to investors. To learn more about AHP, visit https://ahpinvest.com, call 800-555-1055 or email info(at)ahpinvest(dot)com.
