First inmate executions set since April

ST. LOUIS - Three U.S. prison inmates will be put to death in a span of about 24 hours, the country's first executions since Oklahoma's botched lethal injection in late April.

Marcus Wellons is scheduled to die Tuesday night in Georgia, followed six hours later by John Winfield in Missouri. John Ruthell Henry's execution is scheduled for Wednesday night in Florida.

All three states planning lethal injections this week refuse to say where they got their drugs, or if they have been tested. Nine executions nationwide have been stayed or postponed since late April, when Oklahoma inmate Clayton Lockett's vein collapsed as the drug entered his arm. Lockett's procedure was stopped, but he soon died of a heart attack.
