Thunderbird's annual tradition helps Martha's Home

Amarillo, TX -
An annual tradition is helping to keep the doors open for an Amarillo non-profit helping homeless mothers and children.

The High Plains Thunderbird Club presented a check to Martha's Home, worth $3,500, Saturday afternoon.

Every year, all the money raised at the Thunderbird's car show, is donated to Martha's Home. Something Executive Director Connie Garcia says helps them out tremendously.

"We operate four homes, so everything that goes with running a home times four. Utilities, lights, water, power, operations costs, maintenance costs, repairs on the homes...there are salaries for staff, so the costs can be quite high," she told us.

To date, the Thunderbird Club has donated over $27,000 to Martha's Home.
