After this weekend's storm some local dealerships say they discovered some of their vehicles with hail damage

Posted: Updated:
Amarillo, TX - Local insurance agencies have noticed an increase in car repairs after this weekend's storm.

Damages ranging from roofs, patios and vehicles have been reported in isolated areas throughout the panhandle.

Local insurance agencies are expecting more vehicle repairs because of hail damage and flooding.

But it's not as bad as last year's storm from which we are still recovering.

"We had what I would say maybe smaller than pea size that probably affected every forth or fifth vehicle." says Jeff Irizarry, General Sales Manager for Nissan

After this weekends storm, some local dealerships say they discovered some of their vehicles with hail damage.

State Farm agent Merritt Vaughn also says there has been an increase in vehicle repair claims.

"Pockets of hail, some was smaller, some was bigger, wind damage and then some flooding issues where people just gotten in the water or it was too deep and you know those engines suck in that water and it can ruin the engine so that's what we are seeing the majority of." says Merritt Vaughn, State Farm Agent.

Some of the isolated areas with damage are Amarillo, the Perryton-Spearman area and just outside of Canyon.

Despite the damages, the general sales manager of Nissan says the rain is welcomed.

"Happy to have the rain that's helped everybody's attitude and we'll take some little bitty hail with rain if that's what we got to do." says Jeff Irizarry.

Insurance agencies say to make sure you report any damages right away and visit the better business bureau to find a reputable body shop to fix any damages.
