Early morning storm sweeps Panhandle

Posted: Updated:
Amarillo, TX - Your wake up call came a little earlier today thanks to a strong surge of severe weather throughout the Panhandle.

Around 12:45 am, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning as rotating clouds were forming over Amarillo near I-40. Some areas reported anywhere from nickel to baseball size hail and many areas also reported flooding.

Officials report no damages to any structures so far. The National Weather Service canceled the tornado warning around 1:45 as the threat of a tornado moved out of the area.

Some Pampa viewers also called in and reported power outages. Our Stormtrack team will continue to watch and track this weather pattern and keep you up to date.
