Vigil held for man shot by officer

Fort Worth, TX - A shooting victim is honored after nearly 75 family members and neighbors gathered at a candlelight vigil to remember the husband and grandfather who was fatally shot by police. The gathering marked one year since the man was fatally shot by a rookie Fort Worth officer inside his garage.

In January, a grand jury declined to indict the officer with involvement in the shooting, but documents released early this year revealed that the man had refused to follow commands from the officer to put his handgun down, leading the officer to draw and fire his gun.

Now, many neighbors are disputing the details of what police say really happened. The victim's daughter is also criticizing police saying that the documents are quote "filled with holes."

Officers were responding to a burglary call across the street, but wound up at this man's house by mistake. The police department blamed a GPS mapping program for the error. They say that the reason the man had a gun drawn was because he did not know who was on his property making noise and shining lights. The family is also conducting their own investigation with potential of a civil case to be filed in the future.
