Fort Hood, TX - Three congressmen are speaking out in support of the Fort Hood Heroes Act after the devastating shooting shook the base back in 2009.   Texas congressmen John Carter and Bill Flores and Florida congressman Allen West held a news conference in Killeen, Texas, to urge their fellow congress members to pass the bill.

The legislation would classify the 2009 Fort Hood shooting as an act of terror instead of an act of workplace violence. This all comes after army major Nidal Hasan was convicted last year of 13 counts of murder and 32 counts of attempted murder in the shooting rampage.

This new bill would provide compensation to the victims and also award the purple heart to members of the armed forces killed or wounded in the rampage.
This bill has failed in the past, but lawmakers have rewritten the bill since then and are confident it will pass soon.
