Special Crimes investigate Monday night homicide

Amarillo, TX - Shots are heard in an area mobile home park and police confirm one person is dead.

At approximately 9:30 pm, deputies of the Potter County sheriff’s office were dispatched to 210 W. Mobley, unit 29.    

When deputies arrived on scene they discovered a male who was deceased. It appeared the male had a possible gunshot wound to his upper body. A female was also present and she was detained by the deputies.

The man was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.  
   
A Justice of the Peace ordered an autopsy in Lubbock, which will be performed next Monday morning.
 
The victim was identified as 56 year old Joseph Lee Hamel. 65 year old Janice Mae Sicard was booked into the Potter County correction center for murder.            

Special Crimes continues to investigate this case and asks anyone with information to call 
378-9468 and ask for Lt. Erick Bohannon.
