One fatal confirmed in Fort Bliss crash

Fort Bliss, TX - Officials are now confirming that the helicopter crash at Fort Bliss over the weekend has claimed the life of one solider on board.

Sgt. Dwight Burn died when the CH-47 Chinook he was in crashed Saturday night. Another crew-member and two pilots were also injured when their helicopter crashed during weekend training exercises from a West Texas post.

All four soldiers are with the 82nd combat aviation brigade from Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The soldiers were conducting high-altitude, mountain training - similar to environments they may face while deployed to Afghanistan.

A Fort Bliss spokesman said nobody on the ground was hurt. Two of the injured soldiers were expected to be released today, while the other will remain hospitalized.  Officials say an investigation of the crash could take up to six months to complete.
