Bell Helicopter layoffs hit Fort Worth

Forth Worth, TX - As our economy continues to shift so do jobs in the state of Texas as Bell Helicopter announced another round of layoffs to hit it's company.

Amarillo made the cut and avoided the most recent pack of layoffs to hit. We spoke with an official with Bell Helicopter here in Amarillo and confirmed that these most recent cuts did not effect anyone locally.

Bell Helicopter announced it's laying off 325 employees as the company continues to downsize due to declining defense spending. The layoffs, announced Monday, will largely affect operations at its Fort Worth-based headquarters.

Company officials report these layoffs bring Bell's total staff reductions to more than 700 since early 2013.

The company reported a 76 million dollar drop in revenues when Textron released its first-quarter earnings last week.

Bell Helicopter CEO John Garrison also said in a statement to employees that the job cuts are necessary to ensure the company remains a viable business.
