UPDATE: Speed may have been factor in wreck that sent five people to the hospital

UPDATE: Amarillo, TX - Speed may have been a factor in a wreck that sent five people to the hospital in critical condition.

Amarillo police say around 4:00 Monday afternoon officers responded to a wreck at 29th and South Grand where they found an eight year-old had been ejected from a vehicle.
   
The driver of the vehicle, along with three other juveniles, were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
   
All of their injuries have improved today.
  
The wreck is still under investigation.

UPDATE:  Police say five people were taken to the hospital following a major crash at South Grand and 29th Avenue, including one eight year-old child who is in critical condition after being ejected from the vehicle.

The crash reportedly happened when one car was traveling north on Grand, and crashed into another vehicle that was pulling out into the roadway from 29th Avenue.

Police say all the other injuries in the crash were minor.

Amarillo, TX - Police are urging drivers to avoid the area of South Grand Street and 29th Avenue as they continue to investigate the cause of a major crash.

Information is limited at this time, but the crash happened sometime shortly after 4:00 p.m., and police say some people were injured and taken to the hospital.

The number or extent of the injuries are currently unknown.
