Texas school considers drug testing

Goliad, TX -  In an effort to steer kids away from drugs, school board members at a Texas high school are looking into starting a drug testing program for 7th through 12th graders.

School board members at Goliad high school are pushing for drug testing to emphasize a drug free environment. The program would start during the 2014-2015 school year, and would only affect students who are involved in extracurricular activities or park their cars on school property.

Although the program would cost the school district anywhere from $20,000 to $25,000, school officials think it's a good investment.

The test would be performed by swabbing the mouth of the student and they would be issued at random. So far, lot's of parents are in support of this program and believe it is money well spent. The program has yet to be finalized by the Goliad School board. A meeting will be held on May 7th for parents and students to express any concerns or questions they may have surrounding the program.
