Amarillo, TX - A softball player in Amarillo is in ICU after being involved in an accident on the diamond.
The community is raising money for Dominic Mendiola. He was at Southeast Park pitching in a softball game, when the softball came back toward his head and crushed his skull.
He was put in an induced coma to try and shrink the swelling of his brain. Dominic is now awake and recovering, but is soon headed back to ICU for brain surgery.
When word got out about Dominic through the community people joined together to see what they could do for him and his family.
When he does get through this, because he will, to know that all these amazing people, friends came together to put on events like this for him, he's just going to be amazed when he sees all of this," said friend Tifanie Garcia.
Many close friends and family will be holding events for the next three weekends this month.
