State and local economy looking strong

We have some good news surrounding the Lone Star state's economy.

New reports show oil and gas production are up, along with construction, while unemployment remains low.

In fact, some economist are saying the Texas economy is strong with no big troubles in sight.

However, others say in order to keep it thriving, Lawmakers need to rethink the state tax system along with funding schools and public transportation.

Here in Amarillo, the City Government says our local economy is on the rise.

Unemployment is around only 4 percent while home values continue to increase.

Amarillo National Bank says in 2012 around $346-million in building permits were approved, bringing more business and residents to town.
