No one likes to see an increase on any bill, but following a city council vote Tuesday, that will soon happen in Amarillo.
Atmos Energy asked the City of Amarillo for a 20% increase in base revenue. After several months of negotiating, the City of Amarillo and Atmos Energy have finally agreed.
They agreed on a 14.58% increase which will be a $2.68 per month increase on the average gas bill.
City council member, Ellen Robertson Green says it was hard negotiating with a huge company.
Although this was a long and complicated process, the city council is happy to keep the increase lower than Atmos originally wanted.
