Hereford, Texas - Around 60 residents of a retirement home in Hereford got quite the wake up call Monday night. A fire broke out at the King's Manor Methodist Retirement System in Hereford causing all residents to evacuate.
The call came in after 10 o'clock Monday night. There was a fire at the King's Manor Methodist nursing home in Hereford. A fire is reportedly believed to have started in the kitchen area of the building. All residents and staff were evacuated from the home to Northwest Elementary School, which is located across the street.
The Hereford fire Marshall says from there patients were temporarily placed at other facilities or with family members until King's Manor is able to open again. The fire was under control by 11:45 Monday night. There were no reported injuries in the fire. Fire officials are still investigating a cause.
Fire Marshall Dean Turney says he is proud of how the community came together in the middle of the night to assist those in need.
