Amarillo, TX - Damages to a building where a SWAT standoff took place Thursday are being called significant.

After over 12 hours Michael Dibase, of Amarillo was finally arrested Thursday for an outstanding parole warrant and a charge of hindering apprehension.

We went by the building and saw some of the damages. Glass and windows are shattered and all of their supply is destroyed because of a strong smell of pepper spray in the building.

Sgt. Brent Barbee with APD says damages to a building when a SWAT standoff happens are small when compared to what is at stake. "No matter how much it costs, if we can get through that particular incident or problem, it is much cheaper to replace damages to a building then it is to replace a life. We can't replace a life. No amount of time or money that we invest to get someone out safe is wasted."

One business says the damage was so extensive they were not able to work out of the building.

Right now they do not have an exact amount of the cost of damage, but say it is around thousands of dollars.
